1) INTRODUCTION
Every F1 season goes by and we get the annual release of the F1 games.
This year is no different and with the launch of the PSP came F1 Grand Prix.
Developed by Travellers Tales the game fares well in most respects.
The driving is good, the graphics are good and more importantly the game has been changed to suit the PSP's pick up and have a ten minute blast style.
There are the normal types of race options which will be explained a little further below.
2) CONTROLS
*** Note ***
Before you have a race I advise you to go to the options on the main menu and turn Brake Assist off. The game basically guides you round the corners which kind of makes you wonder why you even bought the game.
I didn't realise about the brake assist at first which made me wonder why the cars handled like ****.
I was trying to turn corners while the game was also turning corners for me! So unless you don't want a challenge I advise you to turn it off.

6) SCENARIO MODE
Scenario Mode gives you a series of scenarios where normally something is wrong with the car or you have to manitain your position while everyone else is faster than you and so on. It is a good new addition to the gamemodes and some of them are reasonably tricky. There is a small guide forscenario mode further down the guide.
World Championship
More F1 Grand Prix Tips:
This is your normal bog standard FIA World Championship. At fist easy modeis the only difficulty available but as you complete each difficulty the nextone becomes available. The difficulty changes are the same as shown in the table above.
Once on the world championship menu having chosen settings youget the options to qualify, practice, race and view points table. Please notethat if you don't qualify and just go straight into race then you will startfrom the back of the grid.
Multiplayer
The option for 2-8 player races. There is the option of time attack, race andGrand Prix. In time attack one player starts off before the other players join and are all aiming for the best time.
There is no limit to the amount of lapsyou do. Head to head is your normal race mode and grand prix mode is of coursethe FIA World Championship. If less than eight players join then AI drivers will be addded.
TV Race Mode
More F1 Grand Prix Tips:
This mode allows you to take a break from driving and watch an AI race. You canchange camera modes and so on. Kind of pointless this but a good feature neverthe less.
Scenario Mode Guide
6.1 - Scenario 1: Lightning Start
Location: Kuala Lumpar
Team: Renault
Objective:
Start from last place... Reach 15th place before first split.
You start off in 20th position on the grid. Wait until the lights go out and as they go out press X to get a quick start. This should hopefully take you up into about 16th place then just take it easy and look for places to overtake toget your self up to 15th.
More F1 Grand Prix Tips:
6.2 - Scenario 2: Perfect Pitting
Location: Albert Park
Team: Minardi
Objective:
Rolling start...Pit and rejoin race within 36 seconds.
You begin with a rolling start two corners before the pit lane. Take them niceand easy before driving down the pit lane marked with the big arrow. Slow yourcar down when the brake meter comes up.
Just hold square down and you should beok. (More on pitting further down) When you pull into the space rapidly tap Xuntil the mechanics finish before the car auto drives out of the pits. Accelarate away to finish.
More F1 Grand Prix Tips:
6.3 - Scenario 3: Emergency Stop
Location: Kuala Lumpar
Team: Jordan
Objective: Faulty brakes!Rolling start... Reach the pits within 60 seconds.
After the rolling start accelarate down the small straight before braking extremely hard and early, that is the key to this challenege.
Don't worryabout the time limit and other cars overtaking just concentrate on brakingslowly and early for the corners and you should have bags of time. Slowlynavigate the last corner before pulling into the pit lane to complete thechallenege.
6.4 - Scenario 4: Restricted View
More F1 Grand Prix Tips:
Location: Monte Carlo
Team: Minardi
Objective:
Sudden fog descends!Rolling start...Reach the finish .Maintain your position.
Starting out on lap 9 of a 10 lap race sudden fog descends and makes driving conditions very difficult. Just drive like you normally would making sure tokeep your position.
The easiest way to complete this is to know the Monte Carlocircuit well such as when corners are coming up and certain braking spots asduring the fog you will hardly be able to see.
6.5 - Scenario 5: Gearbox Trouble
Loaction: Imola
More F1 Grand Prix Tips:
Team: Red Bull Racing
Objective:
Stuck in 5th gear!Rolling start... Manitain your position.
Starting out before the last corner accelarate off. When you come to the corners don't brake as you will lose too much speed and due to the car beingstuck in 5th gear accelaration will be very slow.
Make it round the chicanebefore accelarating off down the home straight before letting go of X to glide round the corners. When you come to the next two corners again let go ofX and take them easily.
When you come to the tight hairpin do brake but onlyslightly and begin to accelarate before the end of the corner. On the next small corner let go of X until you clear the corner before pressing X again.Again let go of X for the next two corners before doing the same again for thechicane.
After the chicane cruise round the very small corner before braking slightly for the sharp left hander. Let go of X for the second to last cornerbefore cruising round the chicane and over the finish line.
More F1 Grand Prix Tips:
6.6 - Scenario 6: Tread Carefully
Location: Spa-Francorchamps
Team: Renault
Objective:
Damaged tyres!Rolling start...Reach the pits within 60 seconds
The tyres on your car have lost their tread and you must get to the pits in 60seconds. The trick is to slow down plenty for the corners and when you are going round them keep tapping the directional buttons instead of holding themdown.
If you do begin to lose control tap the opposite directional button toeven the car out. Don't worry about the time limit as you have plenty of time.Once you get to the pits indicated by the large red arrow just drive in tocomplete the scenario.
More F1 Grand Prix Tips:
6.7 - Scenario 7: Speed Test
Loaction: Catalunya
Team: BMW-Williams
Objective:
Reach average speed of 135mph over 2 laps.
As soon as the lights go out press X to get a boost start. This sceanrio is one of the easiest so far. Just barke for the corners and max out your speedsduring the straights and you should easily complete this one.
6.8 - Scenario 8: Flying Lap
Loaction: Monte Carlo
Team: McLaren
Objective:
Qualify in under 1:25 Penalties for collisions.
Again another easy one. Similar to qualifying just make it round the Monte Carlo track in under 1:25. Try not to crash into walls often as this adds asecond on each time but even if you do crash the odd time it shouldn't matter.
6.9 - Scenario 9: Downpour
Location: Hockenheim
Team: Ferrari
Objective: Sudden downpour! Rolling start in first place...Win the race ... on slicks against drivers on wet tyres.
A hard one this is. You start near the end of the 8th lap of 10. You tyres haveno grip at all while all the other drivers have wet tyres with lots of grip.Don't take the corners too fast or you will spin out. You just have to try andmatch the other drivers pace and hold on for the win.
6.10 - Scenario 10: Flat Out
Location: Silverstone
Objective:
Sudden downpour!Rolling start in last place...Reach 1st place ...on wet tyres against drivers on slicks
This last scenario is similar to #9. But this time things are taken to a wholenew level now. You start in last place and must win the race with no grip.
Start off by overtaking the slower cars at the back. Keep pressing forwardand then when your chance comes overtake the leader and hold on to win the race. Well done! You have completed all 10 scenarios!
7) PIT STOPS
In F1 Grand Prix pit stops are interactive. Drive into a pit lane before braking before the line on the brake meter on the left of the screen. If youdon't stop in time then it is a three second speeding penalty.
The car willauto drive down the pit lane before pulling into the space in your garage.You now have the chance to change your strategy. See below for more details.
Keep tapping X to make your mechanics work faster. Once they've finished you will serve your three second penalty if you got one or the car will drive outand you will have completed your pit stop!
Pit Stop Stratergies :
-> Square-Aggressive
Higher top speed, poorer acceleration and roadholding.
-> Triangle-Balanced
Good balance of speed, acceleration and roadholding.
-> Circle-Defensive
Lower top speed, better acceleration and roadholding.
-> Damage
Damage to the car isn't visible or parts don't fall off the cars but the damagedoes acumulate and eventually reduces the cars top speed and acceleration.
Torepair damage either make a pit stop or press start and press reset to track.More on reset to track below. If you have a high speed crash or collision thenyour car will reset back to the track after a three second countdown.
8) OTHER TIPS
-> Reset Car To Track
When you press reset to track the game will repair your car and place it in themiddle of the track. The best place to use it is round a sharp corner if you gooff as if you reset on a straight you will lose lots of places but if you use it on a slow corner you may not even lose a single place!
-> Boost Start
When lining up on the grid wait until the lights go out and then hit X to get aboost start. You can use this to best affect either at the back of the grid togain some early places or when at the front to stay clear of first corner mayhem.
