1) BASIC INFORMATION

Juiced Welcome to angel city and stuff, the objective of this game was to offer a more realistic experience on racing than other racing games, starting with the rather realistic handling, the car maintenance and damage, but most of all 'cause sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but you go on.

There's no restart on real life, and so there isn't on this game.

1.1 - General Information

Juiced In this part of the game you start as a newbie in angel city, where 8 different turfs meet to race. You start alone, but gradually some drivers (3 specifically) will join your own turf.

The game starts with a race against the leader of urban maulers, you'll borrow one of his cars just on this race, and he'll offer you a bet. For more info on bets, check the respective section.

Once the race is finished, you start with some money, no cars and a schedule with the races where you can or can't participate, that's where it all starts.

1.2 - Autosave Feature

Like I said, the game saves automatically the things you do, so if you mess up, the only way to go back is turning off the console, and it doesn't work on certain races like pink slip. However, you don't have to win every race you get in to complete the game.

There's also no restart option on races, except turf challenges. If you select quit on the pause menu, you'll be automatically classified as last place on that race.

1.3 - The Goals OF career Mode

The goals of this mode are to reach 1,500 respect points from each turf and complete all 24 challenges that the turfs offer (3 challenges each). Like I said, you don't need to be in first place on every race you accept; sometimes a second gives you some respect, although a first helps more.

2) EVENTS TYPES & PRIVILEGES

To gain privileges with each turf, your respect bar has to reach a certain level as follows:

-> 100 points you can attend their events.

-> 300 points you can race their events.

-> 600 points you can race pink slips with that turf leader.

-> 1000 you can host a race on that turf's territory.

2.1 - Attend Event

More Juiced Tips:

Attending an event is to only watch the event without racing. You can do this either to have an idea on the car you need to race there or to make a bets on one of the drivers (more info on bet section). There's an amount of money to pay to enter an event, showed on the lower corner of that event add.

2.2 - Race Event

More Juiced Tips:

Means to race on a certain event. To do this you need a car of the event's category (a certain hp) and comply with the event conditions (sometimes only cars of a certain brand or country can enter an event). There's an amount of money to pay to race an event, showed on the lower corner of that event add.

2.3 - Sponsor Event

More Juiced Tips:

It's just as a normal event, but the entrance fee is higher, and so the prizes. You can win prototype parts on some (more info on garage section).

2.4 - Pink Slip

An unofficial race between you and another turf's leader, you can't send any of your drivers to these races. The prize is your rival's car, if you win you go back home with 2 cars, otherwise, you walk your way back.

To put a pink slip on the calendar, either you have to call a turf leader on the mobile phone section, or accept them when they call you.

If they offer it and you say no, you'll lose a little respect. If you say yes, it will be dated on the next empty day on the calendar, and it will always be on the highest car category you had on that moment.

More Juiced Tips:

When you accept and select the pink slip on the calendar, your rival will ask one last time "do you want to race for pinks?" if you say no, the race is cancelled and you keep your car but loose a little more respect.

My advise is to say no if your car is much inferior to his or hers, if you suck at that race type, or if he offers a car you totally hate and don't need the money (even if you don't like the car you can sell it).

More Juiced Tips:

You have to risk a good car if you want to win. If you bet a crappy car 'cause you don't want to loose the good ones, you'll most likely loose. Also consider that the car your rival has is a lot more important than his skills (a medium-skilled guy with a fast car normally beat a high-skilled guy with a slow car).

Once you accept the bet, the game auto saves so even if you turn off the console during a pink slip you'll be considered as the loser and loose the car, so don't even think of it.

2.5 - Host Races

It means organizing your own events on a certain turf's territory, since you don't have a territory of your own. It will cost you depending on how many races it contains, the prizes, etc. Depending on the prices, you'll attract more turfs to participate. To organize your events, select an empty day on the calendar as you would select an event.

Once you reach 1000 respect points of a turf, that turf's leader will call you for a host challenge that you have to win to get host privilege on that territory. Say yes or he or she will get pretty pissed off and you'll lose about 150 or 200 respect points. You can send one of your drivers to race these challenges if you don't feel like going.

Although you acquire host privileges since the first victory, they'll call you about 3 times for the same challenge, unfortunately you have to say always yes or your respect bar will drop off.

For some stupid reason you don't get any respect for wining the races you organize, so there's not much reason to host races, but you unlock mods for the cars you race at them (more info on garage section).

WARNING! Something EXTREMELY IMPORTANT you need to know about host races is that if you don't organize them on a certain territory once in a while, the leader will get so offended you'll lose the privilege and your respect bar will fall at some miserable 580 point, no matter if you had 8000 or 10,000 or whatever.

A couple days before that happens they'll send you a warning but it might already be too late.

2.6 - Restrictions

You have to comply with some requirements in order to race an event:

Category: The bhp has to be the one allowedBrand: sometimes only cars of a certain brand are admittedCountry: The same, but for cars of a certain countryPrototype: Some races only admit prototype cars (more info on garage section, prototype mods subsection).

3) RACE TYPES

These are all the kind of races you can find on events, pink slips or host challenges:

3.1 - Circuit

It's just running around a circuit for 2 laps or more, like any other game.

3.2 - Point-To-Point

The same but only one lap, these are short races where the head start is important. Point to point races are raced on a certain track, only meant for that.

3.3 - Sprint

Drag races divided on 4 sub races called heats, you get points on each heat according to your position: 6 for first, 4 for second, 2 for third and 0 for last. The driver with the highest score at the end of all heats wins. In case there's a match, both get the respective prize. 4WD cars have the advantage on these races.

These races are on manual mode by default. If you choose automatic transmission, it will automatically change to manual, but only for these races.

3.4 - Showoff

You drive alone on the track; the objective is to reach the target score indicated or the highest possible score by doing certain moves, which are explained on the showoff tutorial, on the options menu, so I won't mention them here.

There is something called multiplier which obviously multiplies the score you make with a certain move, to raise it, make a consecutive combination (the larger, the better) of different moves with a time separation as small as possible (doing the same move once and again won't raise the multiplier).

Also notice that if you crash, your multiplier will go down depending on the strength of the crash.

3.5 - Challenges

To complete all 24 is one of the objectives of career mode, 3 challenges for each turf. You need racing privileges and having made that contact to call the leader of the turf (more info about contacts on mobile phone section). These races have to be completed by you, you can't send any of your crew members.

Each challenge has got to be completed with a specific car model, I can't include a list since it varies depending on the console and the version of the game (there's an American and European version, I think) but these are the type of races you'll find:

Lap challenge. - Simply complete one lap on the allotted time; it doesn't matter how you do it.

Clean lap challenge. - The same, but this time you can't hit the car, not even a scratch.

Showoff challenge. - Just a showoff with a target score to beat.

Speed challenge. - Complete a lap always driving above the target speed indicated; if the car ever gets below the target speed, you lose. You also have 10 seconds to reach that speed.

When you complete each challenge your minimum respect value for that turf will raise 50 points. That means it can't go under 50, 100, or 150 if you completed the three challenges.

4) GARAGE

You get new cars, sell them, test them, repair them, tune them, etc. on your garage. Here's what you need to know:

Senseless to set a price on them since it depends on the condition of the car when you buy it.

NOTE: The cars with +++ marks are needed to complete one of the 24 challenges (on Xbox version at least). You should get them as soon as you find them on sale. Once you completed the challenge, you can sell the car.

4.2 - Buying & Selling Cars

Buying cars isn't the way it would normally be on a common game. The only store is like a car lot where cars come and go randomly, so if you see certain cars one day, after racing some events there may be different ones.

Most of all, the list on sale will increase if you race several events without turning off the console.

Also, you can find them new, used, or damaged. New cars are more expensive, follows used, and damaged (you have to spend a little money on damaged ones to use them).

Selling them is like in any other game. You lose a small amount of money but no big deal.

4.3 - Visual Modes

The only purpose of these mods is to call certain turf's attention (more info on respect section). You have access to all of them since you get your first car, there's no unlocking, but there aren't a lot of options anyway.

4.4 - Performance Modes

Here's a brief explanation on how they will improve a car's performance:

More Juiced Tips:

* Tires, suspension: They ensure better handling; better cornering, grip and stability.

* Brakes: Increase the stopping power of a car. Notice they can increase over steering on certain cars.

* Nitrous: you know, gives extra power but just for some seconds.

* Gear ratio: Will change the transmission gears relation. Increasing the speed bar will increase the top speed but diminish acceleration. Increasing the acceleration bar will do the opposite.

* Ride height: This actually won't change the car's performance at all.

More Juiced Tips:

* Induction, turbo, exhaust: Well, they make the damn car go faster, what else? These will increase a car's hp and so its class.

* Engine fine-tune: Gives the last adjustments to hp. In case it slightly exceeds the hp for a certain class, for instance.

4.5 - Repairs

More Juiced Tips:

For every hit your car receives, you'll receive a little damage. If you hit your car too much, certain devices will be damaged like the neons, nitrous, steering system and so on until tour car is totaled and out of race.

First are the neons, nothing really important about them; then is the nitrous leak, in which your nitrous will slowly drain; then follows the steering, on that moment the car will be very difficult to drive, etc.

You can't enter a race with an already damaged car. How much money you spend on repairing it depends on the damage it received, and the price of its visual mods (whether it has neons, body kits, and their price.). If you try to enter a race with a damaged one, the game will ask you if you want to repair the car, you can't enter with that car if you say no.

4.6 - Maintenance

Some parts of your car will wear out each time you drive them, specifically the brakes, tires, and the nitrous system. Its deterioration depends on how much time you have driven that car (except for nitrous, which spends when you use it only), and it will affect the car's handling.

You can give maintenance to a car on tour garage, or before each race (when you're on the car selection screen on a race, press "Y" to inspect a car, it will show you how deteriorated each part is).

More Juiced Tips:

Some color circle indicates the part's condition: green, its okay and you don't need to fix it; yellow, you can still drive a short race with no mayor problem; red, you should fix it right away, although you can race a car with all your parts on red, but its handling won't be friendly at all.

The price of maintenance won't depend on deterioration level, but on the part's level and price; I mean, level 1 tires will be much cheaper to replace than level 3, and so on (replacing prototype level parts can really be a headache because of this).

4.7 - Unlocking Upper Level Performance Modes

One of the rather annoying parts of the game is the performance parts unlocking, I'll explain:

You unlock parts for each model each time you race them, how much depends on your position. You'll unlock more parts if you get first places than second or thirds, for example I got a piece for each race I got a Clio into 'cause it finished always first, but only one for three races I got a civic onto, 'cause I finished second, second, and third.

For this reason it isn't a bad idea to get several cars of the same model, since if you race one, the parts will unlock for all of them, and the ones you buy in the future of that same model. You don't lose access to the unlocked pieces if you sell the car, if you ever buy another car the same model they will all be available.

More Juiced Tips:

Prototype mods can only be unlocked by completing career mode, or by winning certain races that give them as a price. They're normally sponsored races, and show an image of the prototype part on the race adds, on the calendar.

If it's a various races event, only one or two races give the part to the winner or winners (if it's a team race and you win all cars your crew drove will receive that part).

The part will be automatically installed to your car, but other cars the same model will only have it available for buying, not installed.

If you install three or more prototype parts on the same car, you'll create a prototype car; certain races are for prototype cars only.

4.8 - Dynamometer

Makes a test on your car's performance. Shows max revolutions per minute, max hp (transmitted to the tires, the instant your car uses max hp, etc.

It will show a lower max hp than the one the engine has 'cause normally a car's transmission wastes some hp on its way to the tires.

5) RESPECT

One of the two objectives of career mode, you have to reach 1,500 respect points from each of all 8 turfs, to get it, you have to please or impress them; there are things that will get any turf get pleased or mad at you, and things that will get only a specific turf impressed or mad. Let's see the general things first:

- HoW TO OBTAIN IT:

- If they offer you a bet, accept it, or even better, raise it.

- If you offer a bet to someone, make it over the preferred bet number: if they can't afford it, your respect will increase

- HOW TO LOSE IT (uhm... you're supposed not to do this):

- If they offer a bet, reject it or try to lower them.

- If you offer the bet, set it under the preferred bet number, or regret and choose to back out.

- Crash other turfs vehicles; you can hit them a little and cause no problem, but if you exceed a certain limit, you'll piss them off.

- Reject the races they offer to you by phone (like pink slips or host challenges or such)

Now here are the things that will impress only a certain turfs, and the quickest way to gain respect:

- TURFS PREFERENCES:

URBAN MAULERS: Impressed by circuit performance (includes point-to-point). To get it, finish on first place or second at least. To lose it, simply finish on last.

AWB: Impressed by sprints. To obtain respect, finish on first or second. Finish last to lose it.

BLACK SUNRISE: Impressed by showoff races. Get the highest score you can to impress them, or finish with a shameful score to get them mad.

WILD CATS: Impressed by crew performance. Win team races or get your crew to win races to please them, or the opposite to disappoint them.

OMEGA TAU: Impressed by best car. Race cars as expensive and tuned as possible (installing visual mods to a car increases its value). Putting a sound system to a car might seem just stupid on a game like this, but omega tau will notice things like this. Otherwise, they'll get mad if you race your cars with only some rims and a small time spoiler.

PUBLIC CHAOS: Impressed by car collection. Get a lot of tuned cars and keep them in good conditions. If you keep your cars damaged or without maintenance, you'll lose respect from them.

THE LORDZ: Impressed bi gambling. You can impress them in two ways:

When racing, always make a bet to another driver, always win, and set as much money as you can on all bets; when watching, just bet a goddamn big amount of money, it doesn't matter if you win or lose, they'll like it anyway.

Do the opposite to lose respect: lower bets, reject them, or put them below the preferred bet number.

LEGION: Impressed by pink slips. Simply win them to impress them or lose to piss them off.

One last thing to mention about respect is that although your objective is to reach 1,500 points for each turf, you can get a lot more, you can virtually get unlimited points, but the bar will never go under zero, no matter how "offensive" you are at them.

6) YOUR CREW

Your own turf starts with you all alone, but on certain points of the game 3 drivers will ask you to join your crew; it's critical that you say YES, it's totally free, besides you can't race team races without them, and so gain wild cats respect.

Also you can make them race all the races you don't want to be at, except pink slips and challenges.

6.1 - Team Races

Can only be circuits and point-to-point, and can enter 3 teams of 2 drivers, or 2 teams of 3 drivers. The winner team is the one with the smallest average time, so you can get something like a second, third and fourth and still win first prize. You command them only by telling them how fast they drive so they don't get stressed.

But what is stress? Well:

6.2 - Driver's Stress

Drivers controlled by the computer (yours and your rivals) have something like a stress simulation that makes them commit mistakes when they're stressed; it works like this:

Computer controlled drivers can drive at low, medium or high speed, and they have a stress indicator that shows how stressed they are. When they drive fast, they slowly get stressed; when driving at medium speed, they slowly lose stress; and when they drive slowly, they quickly lose stress.

When they're stressed, they can very likely lose control of the car, so they're supposed to slow down.

Before a race, on that screen where you see your rival's names and cars, below their cars there's a skill and a recovery bar, the second bar indicates how fast they recover from stress. Also, the bigger the bar is, the longer they can drive at fast speed before they stress out.

On a team race you can only order your team races how fast to drive, an indicator on the lower left corner of the screen shows how high their stress is and when a driver's name starts blinking, his or her stress is at max and you have to tell them to slow down, or they can have an accident at any moment.

They should always drive fast and you should only tell them to drive medium when their stress is at max, never tell hem to drive slowly.

Their recovery bar will improve as they acquire skills, there's an explanation on the next section.

6.3 - Driver's Skills

Each driver controlled by the game has a skill, aggression and recovery level. Respectively they mean their driving ability, their likelihood to hit someone else's car, and their stress response.

Your crew's drivers will be total rookies when they join your crew, but it takes them few races to get more skilled, and it won't take them too long to become superior to all your rival drivers (my drivers now drive better than me).

You can see their skill and recovery bar at the start race screen; their aggression bar is only shown when you're betting to a rival.

7) BETS

You have two different ways to bet on the game:

7.1 - When Watching

When you're not racing an event, you can make a bet on one of the competitors. On the start race screen, you'll see the drivers that participate, their skills, cars, and their odds (how probable is that they win).

The reward depends on the driver odds: drivers with low odds will mean a high reward for you if they get to win, and drivers with high chances to win mean a lower reward. However, I've never seen a guy with low odds winning, so always bet on drivers with high odds.

On start race screen, below the car's name there's a set of numbers like this "number:number" those are the winning odds; the higher the right number is in comparison to the left one, the more chances that driver has to win, and the lower your reward will be. For example, a car with 1:1 odds will give you 1 credit (or dollar) for each credit you bet; a guy with 7:1 odds will give you 7 credits for each dollar you bet; one with 8:13 odds gives you 8 for each 13 you bet and so on.

Remember that the car is more important than the driver's skills. Fast cars with dumb drivers will most likely beat slow cars with good drivers.

7.2 - When Partipating

When you drive on a race, you can offer a bet to a turf's leader. It's you against him or her, and the one to beat the other gets the money, no matter their final positions. On the start race screen, select a rival's car and press "A", a screen will appear that shows the skills, aggression level of your rival, and the preferred bet.

The preferred bet is a suggestion on how much the rival is willing to bet: If you make a bet way over that number, he'll most likely say no but you'll receive a little respect; if your bet is below the preferred bet, again it's very likely that he says no and this time you lose a little respect.

If you regret making the bet and decide to back out, you'll lose even more respect, same happens if they offer the bet, but you'll receive a little respect just for accepting a bet someone else offered to you.

Since other drivers like to win, if you win a bet their preferred bet will be lower the next time, and go up if they win the bet to you. The lowest it can go is 2,500 credits.

One last thing: you can only offer bets to a certain turf if you've already reached racing privileges with it.

8) MOBILE PHOSE

You use this to call a turf's leader you have a contact with. To make a contact, first reach racing privileges and offer them a bet on a race, then you make the contact and you can call them later to ask for certain special events.

You can't just skip a special event like other common meetings. There are specific ways to cancel them, also know they'll be placed on the next empty day on the calendar.

Pink slips: you need 600 respect points to ask for one of these. More info on its section. Challenges: You need 300 points and the specified car.

9) CHEATS & HINTS

9.1 - Game completion bonuses: If you get a 100% completion in career mode you will unlock the prototype mods for all cars in career mode and the Extreme Nitrous Series in Arcade mode.

9.2 - Unlock all Prototype parts: To get these you need to get 1,500 respect points from every CPU character.Arcade completion bonuses: Complete all the series in Arcade mode, except the Extreme Nitrous Series, to unlock the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Prototype Challenge Series.

9.3 - How to get easy wins: Get three of the CRX mod it until you have 199 hp. Let Amber, Vito, and Chief race the free sprints until they get full skills. Then , use them in a 2-2-2 or a 3-3 circuit race.

9.4 - How to get easy money (1): Earn 600 respect from any CPU character. Next, call any character on your mobile phone. Race for pink slips with one of your less powerful cars. After you get there, sell it for extra money. Make sure you have more than one car in case you lose the race.

9.5 - How to get easy money (2): On days off, host your own race. Choose a sprint and select Class 1 vehicles. You will get a Viper vs. Viper; Viper vs. Corvette Z06; or Corvette vs. Corvette, and only two drivers, Biggi and T.K. If you get the Viper vs. Corvette, put all of your money on the Viper (maximum bet of $500,000). Collect your money, and repeat.

You can choose other classes, but the lower classes give you mixed car results. Generally, anything modern will beat any muscle car in a sprint. A Skyline will beat a Corvette with up to 25 more horsepower. Biggi is a better driver than T.K. Sue is a better driver than Biggi. T.K. cheats every chance that he gets.

You can also use your track to get better parts. Just schedule a circuit in the class of the car you want parts for, let your crew do the driving, and use all the cash from betting on sprints to hook up your ride.

9.6 - How to get easy money (3): Host your own race, then pick sprint. Use your own speedway as the track. Select 'Watch Race' so that you can bet. T.K. and Biggi will always race against each other. Bet on the car with the higher horsepower. You will win about 98% of the time.

9.7 - How to get easy money (4): Set up a sprint race on your turf, then choose level 3 or 4 cars. Look at the bhp on the cars. The car with the most will win about 95% of the time. Remove your memory card and bet all your money on that car.

If the car loses you, restart the PlayStation2 to get your money back. If your car wins, you will get a lot of money. Note: If two Mustangs are racing, choose the newer one. It has a six speed transmission unlike the old one with a five speed.

9.8 - How to get easy money (5): Enter any type of pink slip race (for example, the sprints). Once you select the pink slip race, remove your memory card. Select 'OK' for the race, the no memory card found message, and disabling auto-save.

If you lose the race, exit back to the title screen, insert your memory card, and it will load your career with everything you had before the race (car and respect points). If you won, exit to the career screen and select 'Extras' to enable auto-save. Keep doing this to get a lot of cars or sell them to get money quicker.

9.9 - To unlock all cars in career mode : You have to race for about 3-4 months without skipping any of the races.

9.10 - To unlock all cars in custom mode : You have to beat all the arcade series, including the extreme nitrous series.
