Unlock All MVP Rewards Go to the My MVP screen and create a player with the name of Dan Carter. All MVP Rewards will be unlocked.
Offense
BattingTo score runs, you're gonna need hits, and if you need hits, you've come to the right place.
As with last year's game, it 2005 makes it more likely that you'll get the big knock when a runner's on base.
The pitcher automatically pitches from the stretch, fielders are often forced to play out of the most beneficial position, and the best batters always find a way to come up big.
It's simple --get hits with people on base and you will win a lot of games.
Defense
Pitching Pitching is pretty much the same as it was last year. The meter is the same, requiring you to manage both the placement and power of each pitch.
But there is more to pitching than the meter. Read the tips below to get the most out of the mound.
Dynasty
The Dynasty mode has not changed much from 2004, so if you played a lot of that game, feel free to skip this section.
Dynasty Mode is a deep simulation for hardcore fans of baseball, and gamers who like to stretch their play across several seasons.
This section gives an overview of some of the basic principles and mechanics of the mode, and some suggestions to help get your Dynasty started on the right track.
Mini Games
New to MVP 2005 are the Mini Games, a place to hone your skills and earn MVP Points that can be used to unlock Rewards.
BattingThe batting mini game is the easiest and arguably the most fun of the three. In it, you will be charged with the task of placing a ball in a specific place on the field (center, right field, left field, or down the line).
In addition, you must hit the ball a certain way. The graphic with an arching arrow indicates a fly ball, the one with a bouncing arrow indicates a grounder, and no arrow indicates that you may hit the ball however you want, provided you hit it in the goal area.
Hitting a ball correctly in the goal area will yield a specific amount of points (250 for a choice ball, 500 for a grounder or fly and 750 for going down the line).
That point amount will be added to the total distance to create a score for each pitch. You get ten pitches per round, and need to fill up the score meter on the left side of the screen in order to move to the next round.
If you get through a round without using all of the pitches, you will receive a bonus for each that is unused, so try to get through the
Here are some tips that will help you succeed:
It does not matter what difficulty you play on in order to earn the MVP points, so go ahead and play on Rookie to blow through the rounds and set the high scores.
If you succeed in hitting the ball into your goal area, the ramps in that area will propel the ball further.
Hitting away from the goal area will cause the ramps to slow your ball down. Ramps are very useful in getting the ball up and over the fence. Hit home runs whenever possible. More MVP Baseball Tips:
Do not go away from your goal in order to jack one over the fence, but if the placement is neutral or up in the air, grip both cheeks and unload.
Not only will this result in a great distance score, but you might hit a car (+100) or a bus (+50).
A foul ball is better than missing your goal. Blatantly missing your goal by hitting the ball in the opposite direction will result in a penalty of the same amount that the goal would have yielded.
A foul ball is simply zero points, and will not result in a negative score. Capitalize on the "Down the Line" balls. Hitting your goal on these will yield 750 + whatever distance you jack it. More MVP Baseball Tips:
Hit a tractor, too, and you'll have a seriously sick score. Do not aim at the tractors. More MVP Baseball Tips:
Sure, they're worth 1000 points, but unless you're behind by that amount with only one pitch left, attempting to direct your hit into them is foolhardy, as it is tough to gauge where they will be given the pitch, ramp placement, and your swing. More MVP Baseball Tips:
By the way, hitting a tractor with a foul ball will yield nothing. Avoid the vortex! More often than not, hitting the vortex will actually result in a negative distance score, so keep away if at all possible. More MVP Baseball Tips:
The only way to consistently score at the top is to cruise through the early rounds in a couple of pitches. The pitchers get more accurate and start throwing nastier stuff in the later rounds, so capitalizing early is essential.
